Temporomandibular joint disorder, often called TMD or TMJ, involves disharmony between muscles and bones of the jaw and head. When misaligned, the jaw joints can cause problems with oral function, as well as a long list of painful symptoms. Neuromuscular treatments stabilize the muscles that control the jaw. We use advanced computerized technology to find optimal alignment of the muscles, teeth, and jaw so that they can work together in harmony. We don't use invasive techniques, like painful jaw surgery, to correct TMJ. Instead, therapy may include rebuilding teeth to achieve proper bite and oral appliances that reposition the jaw into optimal position. Benefits of successful TMJ therapy include partial or complete relief from pain and discomfort, as well as better overall health and longer-lasting dental restorations and smiles. Neuromuscular treatments can also prevent the teeth from shifting. Many of our guests have shared that their headaches disappeared and that they no longer need pain medication after therapy. They also tend to experience a more restful sleep. For many, TMJ therapy offers life-changing relief from debilitating or antagonistic symptoms.
